On April 23, 2019, Chinese Consul General to San Francisco Wang Donghua attended Celebration of the 5th Anniversary of China Business Studies Initiative (CBSI) and delivered a speech at University of San Francisco.

Wang appreciated the CBSI for its efforts to enhance the China-US friendship and cooperation. Wang pointed out that Chinese economy remains resilient and vibrant against trade frictions and other external uncertainties, and China is well-positioned to deepen reform and further open up, which will bring more opportunities to other countries, including the United States. From the development of China-US relations over the past 40 years, it is clear that cooperation is in the fundamental and long-term interests of both sides, said Wang.

Wang also said that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) originates from China but belongs to the world. It is a public good that countries work together to provide, bringing tangible benefits to the countries participating in the BRI. The BRI can create concrete benefits for the United States and great opportunities for China-US cooperation. China will strengthen cooperation with the US in developing global public good including the BRI for the well being of people in both countries and beyond.
