On March 6, Deputy Consul General Ren Faqiang, on behalf of the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco, attended the funeral of the Secretary of State of Oregon Dennis Richardson in Salem. Richardson died of illness at his year of 69. The Consulate General presented a flower basket to funeral, and Deputy Consul General Ren mourned and comforted Richardson' wife. Ren received interviewed by Statesman Journal and some Chinese medias. He highly valued Richardson' outstanding contributions to promote mutual understanding and cooperation between China and the United States.

During his visit, Ren also met with Federal Representative Greg Walden, Oregon Senate majority leader Ginny Burdick, minority leader Herman Baertschiger Jr and other 10 legislators, as well as the leader of Hazelnut Grower of Oregon. They exchanged views on China-US relations and sub-national cooperation.
