On Feb.9 2016, Consul General Luo Linquan attended the opening ceremony of Chinese New Year in the Desert Celebration in Las Vegas, together with Las Vegas City Councilman Stavros Anthony, Vice President of International Marketing of Las Vegas Conventions & Visitors Authority Michael Goldsmith, and Caesars Entertainment Corporate Vice President of International Marketing Bruce Bommarito. The ceremony was held at the LINQ, the open-air retail, dining and entertainment district, anchored by the world's highest High Roller.
Consul General Luo Linquan extended his warmest greetings to the audience and wished everyone a happy Chinese New Year. He said, featuring colorful entertainments and dynamic multi-culture, Las Vegas has always been a great attraction for the tourists around the world. The year 2016 was the Sino-US Tourism Year. The CNY in the Desert Celebration would not only provide an opportunity for the tourists from all over the world to experience the authentic Chinese culture in Las Vegas, but also made the celebration of Chinese New Year a happy moment that different backgrounds could share together. Mr. Stavros Anthony, the Las Vegas City Councilman, thanked the contribution the Chinese community and Chinese tourists made to the development of Las Vegas. He also declared that Feb.10 2016 had been named as "The Day of the Year of the Monkey" by the Las Vegas city council.
