On Feb 9, 2016, Deputy Consul General Zha Liyou, together with San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, joined the Golden State Warriors for their 6th Chinese New Year celebration at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California, and watched the match between Warriors and Houston Rockets.
It's the first time the "Happy Chinese New Year", a program promoting Chinese cultures, has entered an NBA match. Zha said during an interview, " When the Chinese NBA fans see the traditional Chinese cultural elements in the match, they would feel happy and proud." He added that it's also meaningful for the American audiences to see the Chinese elements in NBA programs to promote cultural exchanges between the two peoples."
