On Jan. 26, Consul General Gao Zhansheng was invited to the Second Award Ceremony of the Huain Cup International Chinese Music Competition in San Jose University Concert Hall hosted by Chinese Musicians Association of America. Vice President of Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) Xu Peidong, Cupertino Vice Mayor Gilbert Wong, Union City former Mayor Mark Green and etc. attended the ceremony and gave remarks. Assemblymember Paul Fong, Campbell Mayor Evan Low and San Jose Councilmember Kansen Chu sent their letters for congratulation.

Consul General Gao indicated in his remarks that, as the bridge of mind, nothing brings people together better than culture. In recent years China has been dedicating to building closer relations with the rest of the world, and music has played an unique role in respect of multilateral cultural exchange. He is pleased that Chinese Musicians Association of America has long been working on promoting Chinese music education and trained plenty of young talented musicians. He hope that, through concerted efforts of both Chinese and overseas musicians and educators, Chinese music will have bigger influence abroad and further promote China-US cultural exchange and cooperations.

It is the second year that the Huayin Cup is held by the Chinese Musicians Association of America and there are over a hundred young talented musicians from local and overseas registered to participate in the competition. Chinese Musicians Association of America was founded in 2007 and was formally known as California Youth Chinese Symphony. Its mission is to promote Chinese music, its performance, education and global exchange in the American community.
