Consul-General Gao Zhansheng held National Day Reception for San Francisco Bay Area Chinese Communities

On Sept. 25, Consul-General Gao Zhansheng held National Day reception to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the People' Republic of China. Deputy Consul-General Song Ru'an, Yi Xianrong and Bi Gang, as well as more than 700 Chinese community leaders attended the event.

San Francisco Mayor Edwin Lee, Supervisor Carmen Chu, Speaker Pro Tempore of California State Assembly Fiona Ma was present to express their congratulations. Representatives brought proclamations from US Senator Feinstein, Congresswoman Woolsay, President of San Francisco Board of Supervisors David Chu, and Supervisor Eric Mar.

Consul General Gao said, after a striving 63 years, China has become the second largest economy in the world, and contributed 20% to the global economic annual growth. Relation between Mainland China and Taiwan remain peaceful and stable. Sino-U.S. relation achieved new progresses this year, highlighted by bilateral summit meetings and Vice President Xi Jinping's successful visit to the United States. Consul-General Gao called on all the Overseas Chinese and Chinese students to consolidate to promote a stable and peaceful cross-Taiwan-Strait relation, enhance Sino-U.S. friendship and realize the grand rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation.

Mayor Lee stated the importance of U.S.-China relation. I look forward to my coming visit to China as Mayor of San Francisco this November to strengthen our economic and cultural ties with China, said Lee.
