| International Community Continues to Send Condolences, Aid to Quake-hit China | ||
Foreign leaders, governments and officials continue to send condolences and aid to China in view of the devastating earthquake in the country's Sichuan province on May 12. Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Patrick Manning, has sent a message of condolence to his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao. The Armenian government has donated 100,000 U.S. dollars to China, while the Rwandan government has donated 50,000 U.S. dollars to the Chinese side. The government of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea has donated 1 million euros to the Chinese government. The Canadian federal government and the government of the province of British Columbia have announced they will send additional 8 million Canadian dollars for the reconstruction of quake-hit areas. |
