On May 27, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Putin once again expressed his sincere sympathies and condolences to the Chinese people over the devastating earthquake, pledging that Russia will do its best to provide help.

Wen said in the fight against the earthquake disaster, China has received prompt and strong support from Russia both in spirit and material, which show the friendly feelings of the Russian people. Wen expressed sincere thanks and regards to Putin and the Russian government and people on behalf of the Chinese government and people.

Medvedev's recent successful visit to China has injected fresh momentum into the Sino-Russian partnership of strategic cooperation, Wen said. The Chinese premier also expressed hope for close cooperation with Putin to comprehensively implement the consensus reached by both sides and push forward pragmatic cooperation between the two nations in every field for the benefit of both peoples.

Putin said Russia speaks highly of Medvedev's recent visit to China and is ready to as always make joint efforts with China and push forward Russia-China strategic cooperative partnership.
