Wen Jiabao Visits Cuban, Japanese Medical Teams

On May 24, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, while inspecting Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital and West China Hospital, Si-Chuan University, visited medical staff from Cuba and Japan, who are here for assistance in China's earthquake relief.

"On behalf the Communist Party of China, the Chinese government and the people, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to you," Wen said while visiting the Cuban medical team. Wen said he believed the medical personnel, sent by Cuban leader Fidel Castro, to support China's earthquake relief, will finish well the task with their expertise.

The team members said they felt very much honored to be able to support and participate in the Chinese people's relief efforts. They pledged to endeavor to cure those injured in the disaster.

Wen also visited the Japanese medical team, asking them to convey the Chinese people's regards to the Japanese people. "You come to help us when we are in the hardest time, and we feel grateful for the Japanese government and the people," Wen said.

Tajiri Kazuhiro, head of the team, said they have started to work, and they will support China's earthquake relief with utmost efforts.
