Dai Bingguo Meets with Former Hungarian Prime Minister Medgyessy, Briefing on China's Earthquake

On May 22, 2008, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo met with former Hungarian Prime Minister Medgyessy Peter in Zhongnanhai.

Dai first briefed Medgyessy and his delegation on the Wenchuan earthquake and on the Chinese government's efforts in leading the whole Chinese nation for disaster relief, expressing gratitude for the sympathy and condolences offered by the Hungarian government.

Dai pointed out that the Chinese government has always attached importance to developing friendly ties with Hungary and deems Hungary its good friend and partner within the EU. China is ready to work with Hungary to continue advancing bilateral ties.

Medgyessy, on behalf of the Hungarian government and people, expressed profound condolences over the heavy casualties caused by the Wenchuan earthquake and extended deep sympathy for the huge economic losses inflicted by the quake on Sichuan Province. He said as a good friend of the Chinese people, he will continue efforts to push forward friendly cooperative relations between both countries.
