High Appreciation for Sichuan Earthquake Relief Efforts

The May 12 earthquake in Sichuan,China severely devastated tens of thousands of lives and caused a huge economic loss. The disaster quickly aroused worldwide humanitarian aid and sympathy to people in quake-hit areas. The overseas Chinese and American friends in west coastal states have shown their generous and strong support. Till now, the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco had received more than 20 metric tons of donated disaster relief goods such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, urgently needed in quake-hit areas. Most of the relief goods had been shipped to Sichuan, China at the beginning of June 2008.

While expressing our heartfelt thanks for the generous donations and good will from the general public in the U.S. to quake-hit areas, the Chinese Consulate General firmly believes that with the joint efforts of the Chinese government and people all over the world, the people in disaster-struck areas will be able to overcome difficulties, rebuilt their homeland and restart a new life.
