On June 1 2012,Consul General Gao Zhansheng attended the 3rd annual International Conference on Oregon – China Investment, Culture, Education and Tourism held in Medford, Oregon. Co-Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives Bruce Hanna, Oregon State representative Dennis Richardson, state and local officials, and representatives from businesses, education, and cultural circles of both China and Oregon attended the event.
In his keynote speech, Consul General Gao introduced the status quo of China's economic development, and stressed that the fundamentals of China's economy remain sound, and China is capable of maintaining long-term, steady and fairly fast development. He urged both sides to explore and make more opportunities for building stronger and mutually-beneficial China-Oregon ties. US Senator Merkley and Senator Wyden sent letters to congratulate on this event.
